Law 2306 of 31 July 2023, which promotes the protection of motherhood and early childhood, provided for (i) creation of breastfeeding areas in public spaces (ii) financial support to local and regional authorities for the creation of the above-mentioned areas; and (iii) financial support to local and regional authorities for the creation of the above-mentioned areas. (iii) increase the amount of paid leave during breastfeeding by amending the first paragraph of Article 238 of the C.S.T.:
…The employer is obliged to grant the worker two (2) breaks of thirty (30) minutes each, “within the working day to breastfeed her child, without any deduction in salary for this concept, during the first six (6) months of age; and after this period, one (1) break of thirty (30) minutes in the same terms up to two (2) years of age of the child; as long as adequate breastfeeding is maintained and shown to be continuous……
Therefore, from now on, if the need for adequate breastfeeding is maintained and manifested by the breastfeeding mother, it will be necessary to grant such paid leave, which after 6 months from the birth of the child, will become only a 30-minute daily leave, until the child reaches the age of 2 years.
